Hyperthyroidism  is a common condition in middle aged and elderley cats it is due to an over active thyroid due to a tumour. They present with a variety of symptoms from drinking more, eating more, urinating more or over activity and manic behaviour. A blood test to measure the T4 hormone is done on site at the acomb surgery. Treatment by surgery , medicine ( Vidalta or Felimazole) or radio-active iodine  can be given.
